International Cooperation
In 2023, the NSC was designated as the IAEA’s first global collaborating center for nuclear and radiation safety to honor its contribution in this area. Also in the same year, the NNSA and Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority established a nuclear safety cooperation center which is located inside the premise of NSC. The establishments of these two centers mark another milestone for the NSC’s further commitment of engaging more proactively with international nuclear community. The NSC is the key member of many international and regional cooperative regime, including Nuclear Harmonization and Standardization Initiative (NHSI), MDEP HPR-1000 Working Group, China-Japan-South Korea Top Regulators Meeting on Nuclear Safety and China-US Cooperation on the Security of Radioactive Sources, etc. While actively participating the activities organized by the international nuclear organizations like IAEA and OECD/NEA, the NSC also maintained strong bilateral ties with the counterparts in the US, the Russian Federation, France, Pakistan, Belgium, South Korea and South Africa, etc. Up to now, the NSC has signed 23 international agreements with its partners and achieved fruitful outcomes at various cooperative levels.
